Call 2 Care is an organisation based in Cape Town that focuses on sustainable community development and educational outreach. It’s projects range from clothing drives, to the creation of community gardens, to the revamping/upgrading of schools through corporate sponsored team-building events. In early 2022, I volunteered at one of these corporate team-building events at a place called Thembani Primary School, in Langa. Thembani Primary School has facilities that are outdated and run-down due to the lack of funding from local government.  Call 2 Care aims, through many events and projects, to completely revamp the school to produce a physical environment that matches the dedication and excellence of the teaching staff and to create a more fun and conducive space for children to learn in. My role at this event included helping to set up for the event, leading a small team of volunteers in designing and painting fun drawings on the walls of classrooms for Grades 3-5, and assisting in overall clean-up. This was an extremely fulfilling experience and I look forward to working with Call 2 Care again in the future.
